Daily Show Jon Stewart Destroys Bill Kristol on Health Care - The Ultimate Smackdown!
I think that girl is amazin and she is the best singer ever - "naked lady gaga DOT comm" best evah
@superunload He bothers to because they were begging for it. It's not hiding, it's a point. He is not a journalist, his show is a comedy ABOUT journalists and news. His job isn't to go out there and do the real investigations and raise awareness about issues but sadly, he's the one that's forced to do it when no one else will talk about anything real. The news world is PATHETIC. It's "This happened!" which is ok but not "WE FOUND THIS OUT!" which makes news rather than just reports on it.
@ToplessArt Yes, I know. I was alluding to that. The CEO of CNN said it was partially because of Stewart. I'm 100% positive he could if he really had a bone to pick with someone but the issue isn't just with someone he dislikes, it's about someone that's also doing their job so poorly. He couldn't take out O'Reilly for instance because he's doing what he does right. He could probably, however, devour someone like Joe Scarborough.
Mr Bowtie is so lame. He's that kid that was convinced he's cool and he's right coz his mom tells him so. I hope he's jobless now. What a fag.
Yeah Stewart does destroy these guys, but I can't really see why he bothers to. Hiding behind "Oh, but my show is just a comedy show" was pretty lame though.
Well it's funny, not too long after this episode aired Crossfire was canceled. Thing is, Stewart just hasn't made the rounds like he did in '04. He might just be able to steamroll over another show.
haha! 12:30, John Stewart "you're as big a dick on your show as you are on any show!." The bowtie comment was phenomenal too. I love Mr. Stewart.
he kills these guys.
-"How old are you?" -"Thirty-five" -" And you where a bow tie?" Pfft HAHA!!!!! Omg. I love him. John Stewart, you are awesome. I love Colbert, but you are the king.
so epic! it's funny 'cause bowtie man obviously came on with only one talking point and no matter how many times jon stewart made a joke out of that point and correctly pointed out that it's retarded he's trying to put the onus on a comedy central show, he was just like "well F, i didn't prepare any other arguemnts. like i didn't know i'd have to defend the legitimacy of my show, i thought i could just attack HIS." it's a great allegory for what that show is: attacking the other side
Stewart gets credit for going on CNN and The Factor to make his serious points. But he DOES deflect challengers by saying he is only a comedian. He does that all the time. He was very insulting to these two people and they should have gave it right back to him. He deflected with a weak argument that he is just a comedian and these two weaklings took it. And by the way, he is a partisan. A progressive guy who has no tolerance for other views. He clearly has no respect for opposing views..
And this is for everyone, seriously... If you're going to argue against Stewart here you're not seeing reality. You're the problem as much as these two clowns. If no one's going to be serious, to take things seriously and to use their brain when it's called for we really are in serious trouble.
We can still laugh and have fun with Stewart too, he's hilarious but he's also a genius, he's so smart and takes the time to learn information before he opens his mouth and speaks about things and that's all it takes to make him so right about so much in this world. This show is forever defined by how he destroyed it.
looked them in the face and smacked them down! be glad John is on comedy central and not cnn!
@americanguy2328 What's old is no one jumping on his bandwagon and saying "Yeah, we really should be doing what he is saying, he's right." The credability just isn't there anymore...
@americanguy2328 I think you misunderstand. He himself is a comedian and his show is there for comedy. Those are facts but that doesn't mean he can't be serious and he often is very serious. He backs it up when he feels there is a reason to do so and that makes him so important 'cause he's really the only person I see doing it. At the same time he does have that to fall back on, it's NOT his job to be a reporter, he comments on reporting and questions people in interviews.
@pscartozzi I see one of your comments there and no wonder you got shut out if it was anything like that. You're just flat out wrong, it has nothing to do with dissenting views and all to do with reality. This isn't an unbiased area, you're deep in our territory with this clip. This is an amazing shut down and Stewart at his best and you're 100% promoting the side that already lost while our guy is still the undisputed champion. This clip is for pro-Stewart Daily Show watchers and we are legion.
can someone explain to me stewart's "spin-alley" point?
you're missing the point. it's STILL a comedy show. just because of its success, jon stewart isn't entitled to stop doing something he loves (being funny), and work on a more serious note. his show SHOULDN'T be taken seriously, and two guys on a debate show on "news-worthy" CNN SHOULDN'T compare themselves to it as a rebuttal.
possibly the best smackdown in the history of American tv
@iwuvpanda You agreed with the lecture's being boring comment, its right below this. Thats not the case. I agree he was rude, but it takes iron balls to go on crossfire and pull this off.
It's funny how quickly my comment was 'edited out' and received 6 down votes. I don't mind Stewart but it's telling to see how ANY dissenting viewpoint squashed, even if it is civil.
Sucking up? How is asking how someone is doing sucking up? Did this douche expect Jon to punch Kerry in the face and call him a bitch when he came on stage? He even addressed his flip-flopping as the third question! It really is a sad day when you can't even greet someone without being accused of partisanship.
@MaximusPowers13 it's not about being entertaining. in fact, stewart was criticizing crossfire for having theatre. his point was about integrity. anyways, i love stewart (and o'reilly), but i have to say that it's just plan rude to act that way on a show that is hosting you. stewart sounded a little drunk.
I disagree...I think he was being open and honest of his view of crossfire....and the show got cancelled so i feel he was right..and look at where Jon Stewart is now for someone who's "boring", bestselling books, still on the air on a hit tv show. So i dont think he's boring either.
